Kia Among Sponsors for The Voice

Kia has been featured with NBA stars and full grown hamsters. Now, the auto maker is giving sponsorship to the next generation of singing sensations. NBC signed Kia Motors, along with Starbucks and other top advertisers, for ads to run during The Voice, the singing competition that became a surprise hit last year.

This year’s line-up of judges includes Cee-Lo, Christina Aguilera, and that overly-handsome dude who fronts Maroon 5.

Kia will use the opportunity to promote their fuel efficient vehicles, like Kia Forte and Optima hybrid, along with their cross-utility vehicles. Performers will be seen driving the cars and using in-car voice-activated communications systems. There will also be a series of Webisodes featuring Dia Frampton in the Kia Sorento.

Kia Forte 5-door Hatchback

Kia’s latest jaunt into automotive design came up with their highly anticipated Forte concept. Now, the Korean auto maker is set to introduce a 5-door hatchback Forte variant to the world. This 5-door hatchback builds on the Forte sedan model and their coupe (or Koup as they are calling it) with an extended chassis and rear entrance.

The Forte Hatchback will also feature a new front grill, alloy wheels, paddle shifters and navigation. While it sits lower and exudes a performance stance, Kia says it does not compromise on practicality or space.

Kia fans in North America have made it clear they want the Forte, at least based on responses to the Koup at events like 2010′s New York International Auto Show. Kia’s sportier designs and more powerful engines are making it an up-and-coming company that the competition should keep an eye on.

Details are scarce but two engines are available in the form of a 2.0-liter and a 2.4-liter. Power figures were not supplied. Transmission choices are a new 6-speed manual and an automatic.

The 2010 Kia Koup (get it – it’s a coupe!) will drop into dealerships later this year, but why wait to have a good look at the clever vehicle advertising? Like the old metal song goes – Two Heads are better then One – or in this case, two doors.
