2008 Kia Rio Review, Pictures & Video

With its subcompact Rio model, Kia proves that you can intertwine practicality and performance. The Rio comes in a base trim level, an LX trim level and an SX trim level. In addition to those three trims, there is a hatchback version named the Rio5 that comes in the LX and high-end SX trim levels.
The wedge shaped exterior holds an inflated interior space that can hold up to five passengers. The 60/40 split seat folds down the cargo space on all trims increases to a level beyond the subcompact class. Some of the features you will find inside include a tachometer, optional power locks and windows, air conditioning and tweeter speakers for the LX and SX trim levels. The upper level trims also get an auxiliary input jack for MP3 players to give more entertainment options. Other changes include a redesigned center gage cluster, shift stick and cup holder design.
Whatever model you choose, the 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that features variable valve timing can get the job done. The standard transmission is a five-speed manual and the LX and SX trims have an optional four-speed automatic transmission. This team nets this vehicle with an average 34 mpg highway!
Don’t fret about your safety either. The six standard airbags include side airbags and side curtain airbags. Along with the airbag protection, the Rio driver gets side-impact door beams, front & rear crumple zones and all-disc antilock brakes.
The surprisingly quiet ride that the 2008 Kia Rio provides is easily enjoyed with the comfortable ride the Rio provides, even on rougher surfaces. For such a small price, this small car really packs a big punch.
